Players are able to qualify into the main event through Cash Qualifiers, FPPs and Steps Sit & Go Satellites. The 2010 WSOP main event is valued at $12,000 – $10 000 buy-in and $2 000 for hotel expenses and accommodation.
In 2009, the WSOP main event was won by a PokerStars Pro.Joe Cada winning a Bracelet and prize money in the tune of $8,547,042. Other professional players who made it to the final tables include Eric Buchman and Dennis Phillips.
This year, PokerStars promises that the event will be bigger than ever. There are additional bonuses for players that cash and win the event and this will include accommodation at the Palms – a luxurious hotel. The bonuses include free NAPT or PCA Main Event package for players who cash-in the WSOP 2010 Main Event, 2 tickets to the PokerStars party, PokerStars WSOP 2010 player bag and 50,000 VIP Player Points. A PokerStars qualifier who wins the event will be awarded with a bonus of one million on top of his or her prize money.
The major poker variant played at the even is Texas Hold’em and features other variants such stud poker, draw poker and Caribbean poker. Texas Hold’em, H.O.R.S.E, Omaha Hold’em, S.H.O.E and Seven-card stud are some of most popular variants played at the World Series of Poker games.
